 Our Vision
A well Planned Program delivered by a Trained Leader with a strong Outdoor Program supported by a good Commissioner.

 

Illowa Council Commissioners’ Strategic Objectives & Goals

 

Objective I: Ensure a complete unit program

 

            Strategies to Achieve the Objective:

  • Be part of unit annual program planning.
  • Observe advancement and youth recognition via Commissioner Tools.
  • Promote unit and district resource materials via Commissioner Tools.

 

Specific Goals:

  1. Ensure unit annual program planning process is accomplished. [September annually]
  2. Reference unit advancement report via Commissioner Tools. [Bi-monthly]
  3. District commissioner brings advancement concerns to district committee. [Monthly]
  4. Commissioners encourage proper uniforming by setting the example. [Monthly]
  5. Hold uniform inspections. [Twice Annually]
  6. Encourage all youth to have appropriate handbook and a Boys Life subscription per family. [Annually]
  7. Promote use of unit and district library of resources. [Annually]
  8. Promote utilization of older youth experience. [Monthly]

 

Objective II: Program is delivered by a trained leader.

 

            Strategies to Achieve the Objective:

  • Promote all leader training programs.
  • Ensure continued commissioner training.

 

Specific Goals:

  1. Know your district training dates for all youth and adults leaders in all scouting programs. [Monthly]
  2. Emphasize training opportunities. [Monthly]
  3. Encourage leaders to participate in district and council training activities. [Monthly]
  4. Promote Roundtable attendance to all leaders. [Monthly]
  5. Commissioners attend Roundtable. [Monthly]
  6. Review adult leader training in conjunction with district training committee utilizing Commissioner Tools. [Monthly]
  7. Commissioners attend District Commissioner staff meetings. [Monthly]
  8. Commissioners attend area College of Commissioner Science and/or Commissioner Conference. [Annually]
 

Objective III: Encourage a strong Outdoor Program.

 

            Strategies to Achieve the Objective:

  • Promote district, council, area, regional and national outdoor activities
  • Encourage units to be properly trained to participate in outdoor activities.
  • Commissioners to encourage a monthly outdoor activity by each of their units.

 

Specific Goals:

  1. Provide & Promote the Program Happenings document to Unit Leaders via electronic format through Unit Commissioners and Council Program Planning Guide. [Bimonthly]
  2. Know all outdoor activity dates via Program Happenings. [Monthly]
  3. Each unit to participate in youth leadership training where applicable. [Annually]
  4. Each unit has someone with required tour permit training for their program. [Annually]
  5. Commissioners to report their assigned unit’s outdoor activity at District Commissioner staff meetings. [Monthly]
