Ernest Oberholtzer First Aid & Dentistry
Merit Badge Clinic

February 3, 2018

Hosted by the Council’s Enterprise Risk Management Committee and Genesis - Illini Hospital

This is the Illowa Council's 16th Annual First Aid Merit Badge Clinic.  This clinic provides an opportunity and learning experience that is difficult to recreate in a troop.  This year we are offering the Dentistry Merit Badge, which is only offered every third year.  Take advantage now of this opportunity for your Scout to complete his Dentistry Merit Badge!  The First Aid clinic will be held at Genesis - Illini Hospital, Larson Center, 855 Illini Drive, Silvis, Illinois.

New in 2018!  If your Scout troop knows of girls between the ages of 11-18 that would like to participate, you may make reservations for them to attend.  While girls of that age won’t be able to officially register with the BSA until 2019, they can learn the same life-saving first-aid skills that our Scouts do.  Girls will experience the same requirements and written test that the boys must complete for this merit badge.

Genesis will work with First Aid Merit Badge participants to provide them access to state-of-the-art first aid and resuscitation equipment.  Participants should bring their assembled home first aid kit.  It is recommended that Scouts have achieved Tenderfoot Rank or higher for this clinic.  ALL Scouts will take a written test at the end of the day to determine their earning of the merit badge.

The Dentistry Merit Badge will be limited to 30 Scouts to be divided among several different dentist offices.  Scouts will be dropped off directly at the designated office, and an e-mail will be sent with information about which office.

Registration is $10.00 per Scout.  Late fees have been waived. The registration fee includes a patch and pizza for lunch.   If you have dietary restrictions, please plan to bring your own lunch.

Space is limited, and a wait list will be generated once the clinic is full.  If your name is on the wait list, you will be contacted only if space becomes available.
