Commissioner Basic Training

·         Specific on the commissioner position you are in

·         Usually held at University of Scouting and other times in the year


    College of Commissioner Science

The purpose of the Commissioner’s College is to offer commissioners a vehicle for continuing their education through advanced learning experiences in unit service.  The College’s objectives are to help commissioners expand their skills beyond those of Commissioner Basic Training and to expand the unit service philosophy.  The goal of this experience is to promote the increased effectiveness of the individual commissioner. 


 

Bachelor of Commissioner Science Degree   

                Prerequisites:

·         Currently registered as a commissioner

·         Completed the online Commissioners Orientation and holds a certificate

·         Completed the online Youth Protection Course and holds a current certificate

·         Completed Commissioner Basic Training

Requirements:

·         Complete a minimum of seven courses of instruction of which five must be from the Bachelor programs current catalog

Commissioners Performance:

·         Approval by the Council Commissioner

·         Approval of Scout Executive or Staff Advisor for Commissioner Service

 


Master of Commissioner Science Degree   

                Prerequisites:

·         Currently registered as a commissioner

·         Has been awarded the Commissioners Arrowhead Honor

·         Holds an approved Bachelor’s Degree of Commissioner Science Degree

·         Holds a current Youth Protection certificate

Requirements:

·         Complete a minimum of seven courses of instructions from the Master’s program current catalog

·         Has completed a minimum of 14 courses of instruction from the College Catalog

Commissioner Preformance:

·         Approval by the Council Commissioner

·         Approval of Scout Executive or Staff Advisor for Commissioner Service

 


 

Doctorate of Commissioner Science Degree   

                Prerequisites:

·         Currently registered as a commissioner

·         Holds a current Youth Protection Certificate

·         Holds an approved Masters of Commissioner Science Degree

·         Has been awarded the Commissioner’s Key

Requirements:

·         Complete a minimum of ten additional courses of instruction at least 5 of the courses must be at the Doctorate level

·         Has completed a minimum of 24 courses of instruction from the College Catalog

Thesis:

·         Complete a Thesis on any topic relating to Commissioner Service

·         The Topic must be approved by the Thesis Review Board prior to starting on the effort

·         Must have completed the Masters Degree

·         The Thesis must be submitted for review in the approved format as determined by the Thesis Review Board

·         The Thesis should be a minimum of 20 pages in length including supporting material as required

·         The Doctoral Review Board shall provide a Doctorate Advisor to mentor and monitor the work effort

Commissioners Performance:

·         Serve for at least one year on the College of Commissioner Science Staff (instructor or support)

·         Approval by the Council Commissioner

·         Approval of Scout Executive or Staff Advisor for Commissioner Service
