Red Cross Basic Wilderness First Aid Training

This class is designed to give you solid first aid skills in a wilderness setting. This course teaches first aid skills for situations in which emergency care is delayed for long periods or self evacuation is necessary. It includes injury prevention, proper advanced preparation, more advanced first aid techniques, and short-distance transfer and evacuation techniques.

JUNE 1-3, 2018

Participants need to be at least 16 years old and must have a valid CPR/AED certification to begin the WFA training course. CPR/AED training is a Friday night ‘add-on’ option for this course.

The CPR/AED training begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1. The Wilderness First Aid course begins at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, with breakfast at 7:00 a.m.  The course will conclude around noon on Sunday, June 3.

Wilderness First Aid certification is a required course for at least one adult leader on any BSA high adventure trip. (Philmont now requires two.) However, it is recommended that two adult leaders get trained.

Participants MUST HAVE A BASIC KNOWLEDGE of First Aid as this course teaches techniques necessary in more extreme situations.
