Wood Badge is a training course for Scouting Leaders.  Lord Baden-Powell designed this course so Scouters could learn, in as practical a way as possible, the skills and methods of Scouting.  It is first and foremost, a "learning by doing" experience.

The themes that follow encapsulate the course content of Wood Badge:

  • Living the Values
  • Bringing the Vision to Life
  • Models for Success
  • Tools of the Trade
  • Leading to Make a Difference

To qualify for this training, participants must:

1.   Be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America;
2.   Have completed the basic training courses for your current Scouting Position;
3.   Have completed the outdoor skills program, if there is one, appropriate for your Scouting position.  Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills is required for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, and is suggested for Venturing Leaders. BALOO and OWL are required for Cubmasters, Assistant Cubmasters, and/or Den Leaders; and, 
4.   Have completed Parts A, B, and C of the BSA Medical form prior to the start of the course.

Wood Badge Training takes place over two full 3-day weekends in the Outdoor Classroom of Loud Thunder Scout Reservation.  Each course begins on Friday morning and attendance at both weekend training sessions is required.

Fees:   Participant fee is $220.00; Staff fee is $100.00.
Payment:   A $100.00 deposit is due at the time of registration, with balance due by December 31, 2018.  Payment in full is required at the time of registration starting January 1, 2019.
