Council Pinewood Derby – 3/23

On March 23, 2024, the Illowa Council invites all scouts, volunteers, and family to their Annual Pinewood Derby. Details like location, times, and fees are yet to be announced. Participants can enter up to five cars with an accompanying Car Information Sheet. Awards for various categories and a livestream will be available for those unable to attend. Supplies are sold at the Illowa Scout Shop. Contact Chad Barr or Maya Smit for more information. Registration and additional details are forthcoming.

Community Impact Gala

Join the 2024 Community Impact Gala to support youth in the Illowa Council. The event on April 21 at the Camden Centre includes a reception, dinner, and program to celebrate Eagle Scouts and thank supporters. Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) – 4/5-6

BALOO training will help ALL Cub Scout parents and leaders to ‘BE PREPARED’ for camping
adventures in the great outdoors with Cubs. This program is specific to meet the needs of introducing
Cub Scout Leaders to the world of overnight camping. The BSA requires that you have at least one
BALOO-trained adult on every Cub Scout den or pack overnight event regardless of whether it is a pack,
district or council event. This updated course provides BOTH the basic training as well as the Webelos
instruction and involves quality sessions to cover required material.

Intro to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) – 4/5-6

The Intro Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) course is an intensive overnight course with instruction and practice
in the outdoor skills that are important in Scouting. IOLS is the outdoor training required for Scoutmasters
and Assistant Scoutmasters to be position trained.

Shooting Experience – 4/20

Come out to Loud Thunder Scout Reservation for a day of Shooting Sports on April 20th, 2024. Participants will have the opportunity to choose from several Action Area Groups during both morning and afternoon sessions. Action Area Groups include benchrest rifle, shotgun, pellet rifle, tomahawks, shotguns, muzzeloading rifle, prone rifle, archery, and cowboy action.

Wilderness First Aid & CPR/AED Training – 5/31-6/2

This class is designed to give you solid first aid skills in a wilderness setting. This course teaches first aid skills for extreme situations in which emergency care is delayed for long periods or self-evacuation is necessary. It includes injury prevention, proper advanced preparation, more advanced first aid techniques, and short-distance transfer and evacuation techniques.

Pro-Am Golf Tournament

Join the Illowa Council’s Boy Scout Pro-Am golf tournament in 2024 to support Scouting camps. Your participation helps fund ‘camperships’ for Scouts. The event features a unique scramble format with a PGA professional’s score aiding teams. Activities include a putting contest, BB-gun range, and auctions. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Enjoy a day filled with golf, auctions, and scouting activities while making a difference.

NOAC 2024 – 7/27-8/4/2024

Attend NOAC 2024 at the University of Colorado Boulder from July 27 to August 4, with limited spots. Registration includes meals, housing, transportation, activities, and lodge swag. Costs are $1,500 with a $250 refundable deposit until December 31, 2023. Full payment is due by May 31, 2024. Register by October 18, 2023.
