Intro to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) – 4/4-5

Calling all Scouts BSA & Venturing Adults!

WHEN: Friday & Saturday April 4-5, 2025

WHO: Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, or transferring Webelos Leaders; People who work with Scouts BSA or Venturers in the outdoors; or, you are planning to lead Scout camping events.

COST: $17 per person; includes all course materials, cracker barrel on Friday evening, breakfast, lunch, and a Dutch Oven dinner on Saturday.

WHERE: Camp Loud Thunder, 9906 175th St W, Illinois City, IL

START TIME: 5:00pm – 6:00pm for set up and check in on Friday; Course begins at 6:30pm.  IMPORTANT: Eat dinner before arriving at camp on Friday. An overnight stay in a self-pitched tent is required.

END TIME: 8:00pm on Saturday

About this Course

This is an intensive overnight course for all Scouts BSA and Venturing Leaders that provides instruction and practice in the outdoor skills that are important in Scouting. IOLS is the outdoor training required for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters to be position trained.

Registration Information

Course sized is limited to 25 participants with 15 required to run the course.

Registration closes Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at midnight.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE: Because BALOO and IOLS take place at the same time, participants can only sign up for one of these courses. You can’t take them both on the same weekend. We do hold them twice a year (April & September), so sign up for one now and check back for the next availability.
