About this Course
Cub Scout packs are permitted to conduct a pack campout (overnight) activity, as long as the activity is conducted at a council-approved location and is under the direction of a leader in the pack trained to do so. The training course to prepare these leaders is called Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO, for short).
BALOO training will help ALL Cub Scout parents and leaders to ‘BE PREPARED’ for introducing young Scouts to the world of overnight camping. This training fulfills the requirements needed by your Pack or Webelos Den to conduct overnight outings. This updated course provides BOTH the basic training as well as the Webelos instruction and involves lengthy sessions to cover all material
WHAT TO BRING:
- Participants will need the BSA Annual Health and Medical Record, parts A & B
- Tent
- Sleeping Gear
- Personal overnight supplies
- Water bottle
- Dress for the weather – you will be outdoors
Registration Information
Course size is limited to 25 participants with a minimum of 8 required to run the course.
Course details and schedules will be emailed to course registrants after successful registration.
Registration will close on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at midnight.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE: Because BALOO and IOLS take place at the same time, participants can only sign up for one of these courses. You can’t take them both on the same weekend. We do hold them twice a year (April & September), so sign up for one now and check back for the next availability.
